Confessions of Raven the Prowler: A Cairn Game Actual-Play Write-Up! (Part 6)

I, Lord Raven of Wyvern Point, of clear mind and soul, hereby put down my full confession should I perish in my hall, in my bed, or more likely, by the hands of those sworn to me. I have done nothing wrong. Here are my words.

I need to cut that Grind’s beard short, “everyone knows the Order of Canaas serve the Lord of Wyvern Point” – I don’t know! And I’m the Lord! What’s the point of having you around if you can’t do my work for me?

Lycos wandered in off the road as if the gods sent him to me. But as a tool, or a test?

Lord Alder Brightflame was robbed, which would be bad enough if he weren’t already dead. I had a hunger to test myself in a grave again, it has been so long, and to see what might be left for me. I took the boy Leth and Lycos in tow, none of my other “men” could be troubled to attend. There, we met the good Lord Brightflame, brighter than he should be, walking around bemoaning his fate. Of course the boy overpromised revenge or justice. Still, this happened on my land, so hunting the culprits down was only right.

It was easy enough, especially with “Lyco’s hound” at our heel. We put the fear in the graverobbers good, and I had myself a chat with their leader, Page, who was sent on the errand by Lady Fishacre herself. Seems as if I’ve made a new popular vocation; would-be robber-lords that set past wrongs right. Heh. Madness.

I decided to take Page and Pent under my wing instead; show them a smarter way to climb the ladder. I’ll need sounder men on my side than the rest of these noble fucks if I’m to survive here, that is clear. The third of their number was a coward, so we sent him away for good. He’ll be better off that way.

A lord needs to keep the peace.

It was good to take Leth out on an adventure, though. The boy takes his “duties” too seriously, and I am happy to have shown him a looser way to help the dead pass over. And it was good, too, to give the old Lord a day out on the town, giving him a chance to get his sword wet with the blood of an enemy. It is important to keep a good work/life balance.
