LEGO Black Falcon’s Fortress (1986)
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with the classic LEGO sets. Fort Legoredo, the Pirate Ship, the Metroliner – they are all greats for a reason. Part of what made the Lego Movie such a hit was that these playsets engrained themselves into our psyches since we were children. I went with the Castle series because I’ve always had a soft spot for medieval fantasy, and because my other toys had a blast in the remixed worlds I created using this basic set.
And that’s the great thing about LEGO – you could mix together any number of related sets, space free pieces, and anything else that would work to create your own universe to explore. It’s one of the few lines of toys that still get play at my house.
