Comic Creators, Celebrities, Panels, Movie Cars, Cosplay, Interactive Exhibits, Kids Love Comics Area & More Coming To NJ Expo Center in Edison, November 21 and 22, For Comic Book Fans of All Ages
(NOVEMBER 18, 2015 — EDISON, NJ) The area has been buzzing about the first-ever New Jersey Comic Expo (www.newjerseycomicexpo.com), and the time has finally arrived as the family-friendly event debuts at the NJ Expo Center in Edison, at the crossroads of Jersey, this Saturday and Sunday, November 21st and 22nd.
New York/New Jersey based organizers, MAD Event Management, have been producing the lauded Long Beach Comic Con on the west coast for the last seven years, and are excited to produce this amazing show in their home base in the Metropolitan area. Martha Donato, a native of the region and President of MAD Event Management, is especially excited to bring their incredible brand to the Garden State. “Most of our staff has been working in the industry for over 20 years, forging long lasting relationships with legendary talents and having a full understanding of all things comic. The New Jersey Comic Expo (NJCE) has lined up an exciting weekend of celebrity guests, legendary and top creators in the comic book industry, replica cars from classic movies and television shows, interactive exhibits and hours of seminars and panels.
Fans of all ages attending the New Jersey Comic Expo can prepare for two full days of exclusive programming. Over 60 hours of programs in five areas will be presenting Q&A’s with the industry’s top creators, real-world insight on finding success in today’s challenging comics marketplace, cosplay instruction from top artists, celebrity speakers, classics on creating your own comics, and much more. The celebrity roster scheduled to appear at NJCE includes Drea de Matteo of HBO’s hit series, The Sopranos and FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Amy Acker of Joss Whedon’s cult favorite Angel series, Chase Masterson from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Flash, Tommy Walker and Peter Shinkoda of the Netflix original series, Daredevil, wrestling legend Tito Santana, former WWE Diva and Survivor: China and Smallville star Ashley Massaro, Rob Bruce of AMC’s Comic Book Men, Samantha Newark (the voice of Jem from Jem and the Holograms), and more.
Some of the top creators — the artists and writers from the comic book world — will also be in attendance. DC Superstar Artist/Publisher Jim Lee; Preacher creator Garth Ennis, Spider-Man artist Mark Bagley in his only NJ appearance; legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont; Marvel artist from the new Star Wars comics, John Cassaday, and Life of Agony founding member and creator of IDW’s Killogy, Alan Robert. Also scheduled to appear are Walt Simonson, Louise Simonson, Greg Land, Ivan Reis, Ethan Van Sciver, Fabian Nicieza, Frank Tieri, Peter J. Tomasi, and many others. More than 150 artists in Arists Alley will be selling original art and prints.
Cosplay Corner on the NJCE show floor is an area dedicated to not only cosplayers, but fans of cosplay as well. NJCE is the only con that offers this groundbreaking and entertaining feature. Fans can meet the cosplay guests, get pictures with them and also buy photos and prints. Fan groups like the NJ Ghostbusters, the Star Wars 501st and the NJ Mandalorian Mercs will be in attendance and there’s also a photo booth to snap commemorative pictures. There is also a huge cosplay contest on Saturday with lots of prizes in a variety of categories for those looking to cash in on their love of cosplay.
NJCE also has replicas of some of the most iconic vehicles from movies and television, including the 1966 Batmobile, the Bat Tumbler from the Dark Knight movies, the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters, the Back to the Future DeLorean, Scooby-Doo’s Mystery Machine, The Flintstones car, the Jurassic Park Jeep, Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T., and more.
There are also over 150 vendors on the show floor displaying and selling new and collectible items, there will be charity auctions, and there’s plenty of fun just for kids, too! NJCE special area called “Kids Love Comics!” will be set up with the event’s youngest guests in mind. “We set out to create an area our own kids would enjoy and along the way, we were fortunate enough to find partners who took it to another level,” said Martha Donato, Executive Director and Founder of the New Jersey Comic Expo.
Many publishers will also be exhibiting at NJCE, including Dynamite Entertainment, Valiant Entertainment, and Action Lab, among others. Fans on the expo floor will also be treated to an exclusive, never-before-seen exhibit of Marvel’s CEO Joe Quesada’s Daredevil original art from the acclaimed and best-selling Guardian Devil arc by writer, Kevin Smith. A private collector and sole owner of these rare works will be making select pieces available for public display for the first time since purchasing them from Quesada himself and pages from the Daredevil: Father story have never been seen publicly before now.
Adding to the exclusives on the NJCE floor are Jersey-based exhibitors, National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA). NECA will be exhibiting, as well as presenting a panel, and plan on giving attendees a great and exclusive look into what makes them leaders in the marketplace. Fans can get their hands on some rare warehouse finds, as well as out of print/production items and some highly sought after items previously exclusive to SDCC such as figures from their leading lines of Predator, Pacific Rim, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Nightmare Before Christmas, and more. Many of NECA’s holiday and end of the year releases will be on display in custom built dioramas that really bring them to life. Fans can get an exclusive glimpse into releases from their lines ranging from movies, television, pop culture, classic horror and video games. Attendees will also get an exclusive sneak peak into what’s on tap at NECA for 2016, along with a few teases and one big announcement about a whole new product line they are launching that has been nearly two years in the making.
