Get ready to saddle up and ride into the sunset once again, Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming soon.
Rockstar Games is finally releasing the sequel to one of gaming’s most beloved titles of the last generation, and players will be able to get their hands on it on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in less than a month.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first game, taking place 12 years before John Marston’s story. This time, players will take on the role of Arthur Morgan, another member of the Van der Linde gang that Marston was also a part of.
As the era of the Wild West draws to a close, Arthur and the rest of the gang rob, steal, and fight their way across the country in order to stay one step ahead of the law. However, internal fighting begin to tear the gang apart, and Arthur will have to choose who, and what, he stands for.
Like the first game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world adventure with a ton of different activities. As the gang travels across the country, Arthur will have to help supply their camps with food and supplies to keep morale high.
As his relationship with his fellow outlaws improves, he’ll be able to learn about their personal stories and take part in various wholesome activities, from playing cards to stealing property. Arthur will also be able to interact with other NPCs in the world, and can choose to either make friends or enemies, and decide whether confrontations should be resolved with words or bullets.
Combat has also been revamped, with new weapons and an improved Dead Eye system. Now, players can use the Dead Eye ability to slow down time, tag targets to shoot and highlight weak points on enemies. Players will also now have the choice to play it in first person mode, similar to the option in Grand Theft Auto 5.
Multiplayer will also be returning, and will feature an expanded online world like the first game. Red Dead Online will launch a public beta in November, soon after the release of the base game.
